Kepler is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to aid in the development of manufacturing processes, procedures, and to implement industry best practices for designing, manufacturing, and assembling space products, payloads, and satellites.

This position requires collaboration with various engineering teams, participating in hardware development, supporting new product development and introduction. The successful applicant will have a diverse background in establishing manufacturing, assembly, and integration documentation, with exposure to PCAs, RF, Optical, or Mechanical assemblies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Subject Matter Expert on manufacturing processes, systems, and methodologies for producing space hardware systems.
  • Interface for engineering, production, and quality on hardware producibility and testing.
  • Participate in engineering design reviews, providing feedback and solutions.
  • Take ownership of the production process of your subsystems, ensuring smooth design-to-manufacturing transition and ongoing relationships.
  • Analyze production flows, create layouts, and develop assembly & integration methods, tools, fixtures, and cell configurations.
  • Identify and mitigate risks prior to production kick-off.
  • Assist in developing manufacturing and test flows, work instructions, and traceability records.
  • Design or oversee custom tooling or fixtures to improve manufacturing.
  • Support capital requisitions and perform ROI analysis for manufacturing tools and equipment.
  • Support bids and proposals with manufacturing plans, estimates, and quotations.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Science, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of material handling, kitting, assembly, inspection, and routing processes.
  • Experience with CAD software for drawing review and part design.
  • Experience with manufacturing software systems like ERP, MES, PLM, QMS.
  • Proficient in DFM, DFA, FMEA, and PFMEA processes.
  • Experience supporting product failure investigations and corrective actions.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes such as CNC machining, electroplating, PCB Assembly.

Bonus Points:

  • Experience working in Clean Room environments.
  • Background in space, aerospace, or regulated high-quality, low-volume fields.
  • Knowledge of FOD and ESD requirements.
  • CAD software experience (SolidWorks, Onshape, AutoCAD, or similar).
  • ERP system familiarity (Netsuite or similar).
  • Experience with MES and PLM systems.
  • Exposure to Industrial Engineering and RF hardware/test equipment.
