As a Portfolio Manager, National Team, you will provide discretionary portfolio management services to high-net-worth MD clients across Canada in a virtual environment. You will report to the Director, MD PIC Practice Lead MDPIC, and work closely with MD Financial Consultants (FC) to foster and strengthen client relationships.
This role contributes to the success of the MD business line by executing and delivering specific goals, plans, and initiatives aligned with the team’s strategies. The Portfolio Manager ensures all activities comply with regulations, policies, and procedures.
This is a national role available across Canada
Role Responsibilities:
- Manage client discovery, develop Investment Policy Statements (IPS), model portfolios, and ensure investment compliance with the IPS.
- Initiate contact through voice and web channels via telephone, email, and web conferencing (e.g., Teams Meetings). Conduct at least one formal investment review annually with the FC, client, and Portfolio Manager (virtually).
- Be licensed nationally and support a team of advisors as the Portfolio Manager for assigned clients, providing discretionary investment management in partnership with the FC.
- Handle transactional activities, investment discussions, compliance, and regulatory obligations, including client meetings led by advisors.
- Assess client objectives and risk tolerance; develop and implement tailored investment solutions, including asset allocation and liquidity planning.
- Conduct ongoing client reviews covering portfolio performance, objectives, tax situations, and cash flow needs.
- Analyze securities for transfers, assess fixed income investments, and review sector and country allocations.
- Communicate investment strategies and market outlooks to clients, including fund manager approaches and MD’s market views.
- Assist in educating clients about Private Investment products in collaboration with FC.
