An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Analyst, Financial Planning and Analysis to join a leading renewable energy organisation. This role offers the chance to play a pivotal part in supporting operational and strategic decisions across a diverse portfolio of solar, wind, battery storage, and renewable natural gas assets.
You will be at the heart of financial planning activities, working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver actionable insights that drive business performance. The organisation is committed to operational excellence and sustainability, providing you with the platform to make a meaningful impact on the future of clean energy. With flexible working opportunities, generous pension contributions, and ongoing training and development, this position is ideal for someone looking to advance their career in a supportive and inclusive environment.
What you’ll do:
- Collaborate with financial planning, operations, and business teams to develop annual budgets and monthly reforecasts for operational assets across the renewable energy portfolio.
- Provide detailed analysis of financial results by explaining variances between actuals, budgets, and forecasts while recommending corrective actions to influence future outcomes.
- Partner with various business groups to enhance understanding of financial results as well as risks and opportunities related to current forecasts, ensuring effective communication of findings.
- Perform ad hoc analyses and respond to requests that support business activities and informed decision-making throughout the organisation.
- Support the ongoing development and automation of reporting tools and templates used by the financial planning team.
- Assist in maintenance spend planning and cash flow reporting for partnerships, including those involving Tax Equity and other partners.
- Maintain thorough documentation for all financial planning processes and outputs to ensure robust internal controls and data integrity are upheld.
- Contribute to the monthly revenue calculation and accrual process while validating monthly results for accuracy.
- Work closely with operational project teams as a trusted business partner, providing financial guidance that supports both day-to-day operations and long-term strategic initiatives.
What you bring:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related field is required; CPA or CFA designation is considered an asset for this position.
- Three to five years of progressive experience in financial planning and analysis or corporate finance roles within capital-intensive industries such as energy or infrastructure is highly desirable.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint is essential; familiarity with ERP systems or planning tools such as SAP Analytics Cloud or Microsoft Dynamics would be advantageous.
- A deep understanding of financial statements coupled with hands-on experience in cash flow modelling is necessary for success in this role.
- Experience working within renewable energy markets is considered an asset but not mandatory.
- A proactive approach combined with excellent problem-solving abilities enables you to thrive when managing multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
- Exceptional attention to detail paired with strong analytical skills allows you to synthesise large volumes of data into clear recommendations.
- Outstanding communication skills enable you to convey complex concepts effectively across both finance-focused teams and broader business audiences.
- Demonstrated sound judgement alongside unwavering integrity ensures you maintain high standards in all aspects of your work.
