POSITION
We are seeking an experienced Senior Controller who is a “doer “someone ready to roll up their sleeves and actively perform key accounting tasks while also providing leadership and oversight. This role is pivotal in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of our financial reporting and compliance. The ideal candidate will possess strong hands-on accounting skills, a professional accounting designation, and a proactive approach to managing financial processes and meeting deadlines. Key Responsibilities
- Perform and oversee accounting operations, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, and General Ledger.
- Prepare and ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
- Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance.
- Actively participate in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
- Coordinate and lead the annual audit process, liaising with external auditors and the CEO.
- Maintain compliance with federal, provincial, and local requirements through hands-on involvement.
- Mentor and directly support the finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.
- Collaborate cross-functionally, actively supporting overall company goals through hands-on participation and strategic guidance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA designation required.
- Minimum of 8–10 years of progressive accounting experience, including hands-on experience performing key accounting functions.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
- Practical experience in financial planning and analysis.
- Proven capability to directly manage and perform accounting operations, as well as mentor team performance.
- High proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
