Your future duties and responsibilities
The Emerging Technologies team in Global Technology and Operations (GTO) Canada at CGI is a trusted Data, Cloud, and Advanced Analytics advisor and implementation partner for our clients’ data needs. We are an entrepreneurial team dedicated to positioning CGI as a top Cloud and Data partner and developing new opportunities in the latest technologies. Our process involves understanding the client’s business and data landscape, assessing opportunities, and scaling solutions across organizations, leveraging a team of Data Architects, Data Scientists, Data Engineers, Cloud DevOps, Cloud Architects, and solutions experts.
This role is hands-on, with leadership responsibilities for technical teams.
As a Data Solutions Architect/Senior Data Engineer, your main responsibilities will include:
- Leading client engagements hands-on as the Senior Data Architect and Tech Lead.
- Creating data architectures, pipelines, and data flows based on requirements.
- Delivering data preparation, transformations, and ETL/ELT development on Azure, AWS, GCP, or Snowflake.
- Designing Data Warehousing, Data Lakes, and Delta Lakehouse architectures; preparing client proposals for ML/AI and Data projects.
- Mentoring junior Data Engineers, Data Scientists, and Data professionals.
- Providing thought leadership to clients and industry peers.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Collaborating with clients to deliver foundational data-driven solutions.
- Developing solution architectures for clients and CGI.
- Implementing data solutions on-premises and in the cloud.
- Building data pipelines and architectures on cloud platforms.
- Handling large-scale, complex datasets from dispersed sources.
- Applying advanced SQL and Python skills.
- Gathering requirements, coding, and leading small teams.
- Prototyping solutions to demonstrate value and scaling those solutions.
Essential Qualifications
- 6+ years hands-on experience in Solutions/Data Architecture, Engineering, or Data Science; 9+ years overall experience.
- Experience consulting on Data and AI projects.
- Proficiency with modern cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP).
- Expertise in data analysis, storage, pipelines, and orchestration.
- Strong Python and SQL skills.
- Experience with Big Data.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- English required; French is a plus.
Nice to Have Qualifications
- Consulting experience.
- Experience with client proposals and sales support.
- Experience with ML projects.
- Knowledge of data pipeline tools like Airflow, Jenkins, etc.
- Familiarity with tools like Azure Data Factory, Dbt, Google Dataflow, Qlik Compose, AWS Data Pipeline/Glue, Talend, SSIS, IBM DataStage, Informatica.
- Experience with GenAI projects is a plus.
