The pay details posted reflect a temporary market premium specific to this role that is reassessed annually.

Job Description
This lead role will interface with business stakeholders, multiple vendors, and technical teams to build strategic technical roadmaps, deliver new capabilities, drive operational excellence, and evolve the Claims platform in alignment with Guidewire Cloud standards and enterprise standards. This role will be responsible for leading and mentoring teams and overseeing delivery execution across several pods. This role requires technical experience including web service integration, Guidewire Claims Center, software engineering management, and a background in delivering solutions in the insurance industry. The ideal candidate will have technical proficiency, Claims knowledge, as well as delivery experience managing project schedules.
Claims Center Guidewire Certification and relevant insurance experience is required.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Partner Management: Work with business partners, vendors, technical teams to define capabilities, break down features into executable work, and establish high level technology strategy. Support discovery, break down large ambiguous problems into technical solutions that can be executed upon by pods. Work with teams on estimates/technical tradeoffs where necessary managing delivery risk
- Technical Solution: Establishes and owns the overall technical solution. Works across technical leadership team to evolve standards. Works with teams to deliver against business vision and technical strategy
- Delivery: Accountable for solution objectives, integrity, and estimation of work across teams for a given domain. Leads team to execute against business and technical roadmaps. Supports team by removing impediments
- Mentorship: Leads a team of engineers, provides feedback on work including code/design reviews, and elevates our people. Ensures designs being implemented across respective pods meet technical vision, solution integrity, security, reliability, and stability.
- Operations: Accountable for ensuring quality of delivery and achieving secure and stable operations objectives
- Leadership: Provide overall team leadership, training, coaching, development, succession, recruitment and resource management, and ensures on-going performance feedback and assessments occur and development plans exist for each team member.
- Risk Management: Exercise sound judgement where necessary managing platform stability, security and delivery risk.
- Lead / manage a team of Engineers / Technology Specialists and oversee related engineering analysis activities and deliverables
- Provide overall team leadership, training, coaching, development, succession, recruitment and resource management, and ensures on-going performance feedback and assessments occur and development plans exist for each team member. Engages team with Platform and Journey leads to ensure 2-way feedback of Practitioners occurs.
- Execute introducing engineering tools, methodologies and processes across the enterprise
- Accountability to understand the current skills and capabilities within their practice, actively working to close gaps that may exist through additional learning, coaching, supports etc.
- Leverage deep technology expertise for own area of specialization to deliver and ensure that all areas across the organization that provision, manage and support various technologies have the necessary tools, processes and documentation required to effectively execute on their respective mandates
- Execute on Engineering strategy as it relates to the introduction of tools and the automation of build, test, release and configure activities across Application, Platform and Infrastructure
- Partner with the Operations team to automatically integrate with appropriate tools and processes as part of automated/self-serve Application, Platform or Infrastructure releases
- Work with partners across Technology and apply in-depth understanding of relevant business needs to identify and leverage synergies across the various areas
- Act as the expert or lead innovator and agent of change for the programs and services under management
- Lead interface with other technology teams to implement best practices, standards and management
- Work with vendor platform providers and engineering peers to keep abreast of trends, products, frameworks, and applications
- Identify and effectively manage stakeholder engagement and impacts across the enterprise
- Engage executive stakeholders appropriately to review progress and obtain input, validation and approval of key decisions
- Anticipate client needs to influence the development of innovative engineering solutions as well as business strategies
- Anticipate internal/external business and regulatory issues; recommends process/product/organizational improvements
- Manage resource requirements and assignment, ensuring project milestones are met and monitoring to keep projects on schedule and within budget
- Oversee business expenses and FTE plans and ensure controls in place to monitor, effectively track and manage to established plans
