Senior Project Manager – Business Development (Vancouver)
DJ&A is a multidisciplinary consulting firm providing a wide range of professional services nationwide. Our expertise includes Transportation Design, Survey & Mapping, Sustainability, Site Development, Utilities, Construction Inspection/Management, Geospatial Solutions, Terrestrial LiDAR, 3D Scanning, Structural Design, Project Management, Community Involvement, Right of Way, and Environmental Compliance. We work in locations such as forests, parks, monuments, campgrounds, and other federal lands across the United States. As we expand our presence in Vancouver, WA, we aim to grow our civil engineering market share.
Founded in 1973, DJ&A has offices across Montana, Colorado, Washington, South Dakota, New Mexico, and Nevada, with over 180 professionals delivering engineering, environmental, survey, landscape architecture, and planning projects for federal, tribal, and private clients.
We are seeking a full-time Senior Project Manager with 15+ years of relevant experience, including at least 2 years in leadership and supervision. The candidate should have a thorough understanding of Civil Engineering, Design, and/or Survey industries, along with regional and local market knowledge. Experience in strategic business development, client relations, and sales growth is essential.
Primary responsibilities include:
Business Development:
- Participate in strategy development, market research, and competitor analysis to identify growth opportunities.
- Support business development through client engagement, scope development, interviews, and maintaining relationships.
- Collaborate with the office manager and senior leadership on growth initiatives.
- Build and maintain relationships with existing and potential clients.
- Serve as a client manager, ensuring client satisfaction.
- Lead proposal development, including writing key sections and negotiating contracts.
Staff Development and Leadership:
- Passion for mentoring and career development.
- Assist in recruiting, staff management, performance evaluations, and training.
- Supervise staff, providing technical guidance and reviewing work.
Project Management:
- Manage infrastructure projects from conception to completion, ensuring technical and budgetary success.
- Coordinate schedules, budgets, quality, and agency requirements.
- Build client relations and support marketing efforts.
- Implement QA/QC procedures and facilitate high-quality project delivery.
About You:
- Excellent communication skills.
- Self-motivated, results-oriented, and dynamic.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines with dispersed teams.
- Established network with public and private clients in western Oregon and/or Washington.
Qualifications:
- Professional licensure in engineering, surveying, landscape architecture, or planning.
- Proven ability to develop and maintain client relationships and secure new work.
- 15+ years of related experience.
Additional Requirements:
- At least 2 years of leadership experience.
- Willingness to travel to build teams and relationships.
- Experience managing multiple complex projects.
- Project experience with federal agencies (FHWA, NPS, USFS, etc.) and state/local agencies (WSDOT, ODOT, City of Vancouver, etc.).
Salary and Benefits:
- Salary range approximately $120,000 to $180,000, commensurate with experience.
