Your next challenge:

Reporting to the Mineral Resources and Modeling Superintendent, you will be part of the Mine Technical Services Department. You will lead resource estimation efforts for the Detour Lake mine, collaborating with technical specialists to achieve goals while promoting our values, safety, and environmental responsibility.

  • Execute 3D geological modeling (lithology, structure, mineralization, wireframes) for open pit and underground projects using industry best practices.
  • Update and optimize geostatistical analysis, interpolation, and resource estimation parameters.
  • Update and optimize resource block models, collaborating with open pit and underground teams for reconciliation and reporting, including weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual mineral resource reports.
  • Review QAQC of exploration and operational data used for resource models.
  • Support technical studies with mineral resource and model inputs.
  • Collaborate across exploration, mining, and technical groups to ensure data and findings are shared effectively.
  • Participate in innovation projects applying advanced geostatistical methodologies.
  • Mentor and coach geologists in 3D modeling and resource estimation.
  • Identify opportunities for improving resource estimation processes and drive positive change.

What you need to succeed:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Geology.
  • 10-15 years’ experience in resources geology, preferably in gold.
  • At least 5 years’ supervisory experience in an operating mine.
  • Experience with open pit and underground mining operations, ideally large-scale.
  • Proficiency in mining software such as Leapfrog Geo, Datamine, Leapfrog Edge, and Supervisor.
  • Strong understanding of geological and mining techniques and data interpretation.
  • Excellent computer and analytical skills.
  • Commitment to safety and safety procedures.
  • Willingness to train and develop junior professionals.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Your work schedule:

  • Schedule: 5/2, combining telework and onsite presence in Timmins, Kirkland Lake, Rouyn-Noranda, or Val-d’Or, ON. One site visit per month to Detour Lake Mine.
  • Accommodations and meals are provided on-site at no cost. Transportation and travel expenses are covered based on your residence.
