Senior Security Engineer, AI & Data Platforms
We are seeking a pioneering Senior Security Engineer – AI & Data Platforms to safeguard the next generation of our medical information services. In this strategic, hands-on role, you will be the primary expert responsible for ensuring the trust, integrity, and security of all AI and Machine Learning systems across the organization. You will partner directly with our Data Science, Engineering, and GRC teams to embed security into the entire AI lifecycle—from data ingestion to the deployment of cutting-edge Generative AI applications.
This role is ideal for a seasoned cybersecurity professional with a passion for emerging technology, who is energized by building automated defenses and establishing robust governance frameworks. You will be instrumental in ensuring our use of AI aligns with our core mission: to accelerate the advancement of medicine safely and responsibly.
Key Responsibilities
- Pioneer and lead the security strategy for all AI and ML systems, ensuring the protection of sensitive medical and corporate data.
- Design, implement, and manage a real-time ‘AI Firewall’ solution to inspect and filter prompts and responses, preventing data leakage and malicious use.
- Develop and deploy AI-powered automation to enhance threat detection, streamline incident response, and automate compliance checks, leveraging SOAR platforms and custom scripts.
- Serve as the primary technical expert on AI-specific threats, including prompt injection, data poisoning, and model inversion, referencing frameworks like the OWASP Top 10 for LLMs.
- Partner with GRC, Legal, and Data Science teams to establish a robust AI governance framework that aligns with ISO 27001 controls and emerging standards like the NIST AI Risk Management Framework.
- Conduct advanced threat modeling, penetration testing, and “Red Team” exercises against our AI applications to identify and remediate vulnerabilities before they can be exploited.
- Educate and mentor engineering and data teams on secure AI development practices, fostering a culture of security by design.
Key Skills, Knowledge & Professional Education
- Degree in computer science, cybersecurity, or another quantitative field.
- 7+ years of professional experience in cybersecurity, with a strong, demonstrable focus on cloud and application security.
- Hands-on experience with AI Firewalls, LLM security gateways, or advanced Web Application Firewalls (WAFs) with capabilities for deep content inspection and filtering.
- Deep, hands-on expertise with cloud security in environments like AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Advanced knowledge of securing data platforms and understanding data protection principles within them.
- Proficiency in Python and familiarity with common ML frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch).
- Strong understanding of AI governance frameworks (NIST AI RMF) and information security standards (ISO 27001).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Proactive, collaborative, and committed to fostering a positive, and high-performing team environment.
- Experience working in an Agile environment.
- Certifications in information security, cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), or AI/ML are highly desirable.
