Job Description
GHD has a great opportunity for a Senior Environmental Remediation Design Engineer in a Project Engineering Design and Construction role, specializing in contaminated sites, to support our North American team. Our hiring team, based in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), Ontario, specializes in environmental assessments, risk assessments, risk management planning and implementation, and remedial design and implementation for public and private sector clients across Canada and the US. Responsibilities
- Support strategic pursuits, focusing on federal sector and private industrial clients.
- Provide senior leadership and mentorship on environmental remediation projects.
- Collaborate within multi-disciplinary teams, offering environmental advice.
- Stay current with innovative remediation methodologies.
- Manage design projects, including teams, budgets, timelines, and deliverables.
- Develop and review technical reports, drawings, and specifications.
- Work on local, national, and global projects, with some travel as needed.
- Mentor junior team members in a collaborative environment.
- Identify emerging issues and stakeholder needs.
- Suggest and implement process improvements and innovations.
- Promote a culture of innovation through multistakeholder solutions.
- Design engineering solutions and validate them to meet standards and project goals.
- Draft and evaluate engineering standards and specifications.
- Develop policies, best practices, and share knowledge through internal sessions.
- Monitor HSE performance and ensure compliance.
- Recommend technical developments to enhance project quality.
- Provide professional supervision and support practitioner development.
- Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses for organizational changes.
- Manage waste management segments, including reduction, segregation, and disposal.
- Oversee project portfolios and report to senior management.
- Manage client relationships, providing responsive and innovative solutions.
Education
- Master’s Degree or equivalent is an asset.
- Bachelor’s in Civil or Environmental Engineering required.
Experience
- 10-15 years of wide and deep environmental experience.
- Managerial experience supervising teams and resources.
- 15+ years of professional experience.
- Accredited Professional Engineer in Canada or the US; P.Eng. designation preferred.
- Experience with complex remediation strategies and investigations.
- Experience with environmental legislation in Canada and the US, with US experience as an asset.
- Excellent communication and report-writing skills.
- Strong commitment to client service excellence.
