Job Description
State Street is seeking a Software Engineer / Developer for a user-facing role within a collaborative, team-driven environment. The role involves business demand analysis, solution design, and working with global teams from brainstorming to implementation. The ideal candidate will have solid financial knowledge, strong analytical and interpersonal skills, and good time management. This position is based on the North America east coast and involves working with clients and business users worldwide.
Responsibilities
- Design and build robust processes using core development skills.
- Develop new functionalities, enhance existing features, troubleshoot, and optimize processes.
- Develop and optimize complex PL/SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, triggers, and packages.
- Participate in Agile methodologies, including sprint planning and retrospectives.
- Provide production support, troubleshoot live issues, and analyze performance problems.
- Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards.
- Gather and understand user demands, document, review, and evaluate existing business models.
- Identify, solve, or escalate potential issues and risks during development.
- Collaborate with teams to deliver high-quality results on time.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders.
Qualifications and Skills
- Detail-oriented developer comfortable working independently and in Agile/Scrum teams.
- Experience in developing and maintaining large-scale applications, preferably in financial services.
- Excellent technical skills in Oracle PL/SQL.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Familiarity with Oracle development tools such as TOAD, SQL Developer, SQL Plus.
- Experience with GIT version control.
- Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
- Effective presentation and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with Jira and other Agile tools.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
- 7+ years of hands-on Oracle PL/SQL development experience.
- Experience in financial services or data research projects using Agile methodologies.
- Proven ability to document and maintain project artifacts.
- Understanding of processes, workflows, and technology applications.
- Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle, especially Agile.
- Fluent in English, with strong interpersonal skills.
- Analytical, detail-oriented, and self-motivated with minimal supervision.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Enthusiastic learner with a proactive attitude.
