Sr. C++ Software Engineer

Description
The Align Predictability Optimization Team is looking for a Sr. Software Engineer to join our team. As a Sr. C++ Software Engineer, you will be responsible for developing a 3D CAD/CAM system for orthodontic treatment using ML, Neural network, and Knitro engine. The team focuses on developing software and algorithms for new orthodontic products and features of Align Technology. The team is working on various sets of tasks: computational geometry, architecture rework and refactoring, introducing new products, and integration with other applications. We are working closely with the biomechanical engineering team and clinical experts in the US.
Role expectations
- Participate in the full software development life cycle from concept to release and monitoring
- Create and enhance numerical 3D-geometrical algorithms in C++
- Work on tasks related to the introduction of new products: integration with other applications, implementing new business logic
- Do refactoring and architecture rework of existing code to improve performance and stability
- Participate in code reviews and lead the technical transformation
- Collaborate with software and biomechanical engineering, manufacturing and clinical teams
- Write content in a documentation-as-code approach, using version control, markup format and text editors
- Maintain traceability and regulatory documentation for medical software
- Design and agree high-level technical architecture with the R&D team
- Educate and guide engineers in the development
What we’re looking for
- Education (BS/MS) in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or Engineering
- Strong C++ (8+ years hand on experience in C++ 17/14, STL) and experience in Python
- Theory of algorithms. Experience and knowledge in 3D geometry algorithms will be an advantage
- Basic knowledge of linear algebra, computational mathematics, and analytical geometry
- Upper intermediate level of English — a whole internal communication in English
- Ability to write testable and object-oriented code
- Curiosity and inventiveness
- Expert experience in working with version control systems (Git and Bamboo). Asciidoc experience is a big plus.
- Knowledge and practical experience of working with Kafka, and AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, ML.
- Interest in learning the problem domain and sharing knowledge with the wider team
- Ability to work in a regulated industry, follow a strict process and achieve high quality in every detail.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate with customers.
- Familiarity with modern technologies and ability to learn fast.
- Ability to effectively perform under tight timelines and changing environments
Desired :
- Knowledge of SQL (basic selects/inserts queries)
- Knowledge of AWS Lambda functions, practical skills in CI/CD deployment
Pay Transparency
If provided, base salary or wage rate ranges are the range in which Align reasonably expects to set a candidate’s pay for the posted position. Actual placement depends on the individual skills and experience level of a candidate plus the total compensation and equity across team members. For other locations outside of the primary location, the base salary range will be adjusted geographically.
For Field Sales roles, the salary listed is the base pay only and does not include the applicable incentive compensation plan. A cost of living adjustment may be added to base pay for higher cost areas in the U.S.
Our internship hourly rates are a standard pay determined based on the position and your location, year in school, degree, and experience.
