Position Overview
The Sustainability Lead works throughout Michael Garron Hospital with all members of the care team to ensure awareness, understanding of importance, and optimization of the use of disposable gloves. The role involves education, active discussion, observational audits, and feedback as part of continuous quality improvement to prevent or control the spread of infectious diseases. The success of the Sustainability Lead depends on developing collaborative relationships with healthcare staff and facilitating quality improvement discussions focused on glove use.
Education
- Baccalaureate/Bachelor degree in Health Sciences or related field preferred.
- Familiarity and operational knowledge of the PIDAC Best Practice for Hand Hygiene in All Healthcare Facilities.
Experience
- Demonstrated communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Flexible, organized, and self-directed within scope of responsibility; demonstrates initiative and independent judgment.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to establish effective interpersonal relationships and motivate others.
- Strong facilitation and negotiation skills, with tact, diplomacy, and sensitivity.
- Good judgment and ability to manage conflicting priorities.
- Ability to serve as an ambassador for infection prevention and control best practices.
- Proficient computer skills.
- Good work and attendance record.
- All employees must work within the legislated practices of the Occupational Health and Safety Act of Ontario and contribute to a culture of safety by adhering to hospital policies.
- Responsible for protecting psychological health and safety of oneself and co-workers.
