The North Shore Restorative Justice Society (NSRJ), a cornerstone of community-based, compassionate approaches to justice in our region, is seeking a qualified volunteer to join our Board of Directors as Treasurer. We are a small registered charity with a formidable mission: to co-create compassionate, anti-oppressive, and just restorative practices grounded in a commitment to prevent violence, heal harm, and reduce recidivism. Be Part of a Diverse Team
NSRJ is invested in furthering our organizational commitments to equity, by creating space for our diverse communities to feel welcome and appreciated at all levels of leadership. We are seeking Board members who come from the various communities we serve, and that our staff represent. This includes, but is not limited to: Indigenous, Black, racialized, and immigrant/newcomer communities, as well as queer, trans folx, and people of all abilities. We welcome board members with lived experience in the criminal justice system and/or Restorative Justice. Together, we can learn from each other and grow stronger.
We are looking for an individual who:
- Has senior level experience in accounting and financial management;
- Is able to commit to a two-year term, with the possibility of renewal;
- Can dedicate time for monthly board meetings and finance committee work;
- Is committed to the principles of justice, equity, diversity, accessibility and inclusion (JEDAI);
- Has a passion for supporting authentic approaches to conflict mediation;
- The ideal candidate will have experience in nonprofit board governance.
