Overview
Responsible for decontaminating, reprocessing, and sterilization of equipment, supplies, and surgical instrumentation. Responsible for cleaning labour rooms and maintaining stock of supplies.
Education
- Grade 12 or equivalent.
- Current BLS certification.
Qualifications
- Recent experience in a sterile processing area recommended.
- Experience working in the Operating Room and/or Obstetrical Units recommended.
- Ability to clean patient equipment and areas effectively.
- Ability to lift 10 kg, transport patients, specimens, and supplies as required.
- Comfortable working around labouring patients and newborns.
- Experience in decontamination, preparation, and sterilization of trays, basin sets, etc.
- Adherence to asepsis principles.
- Problem-solving skills.
- Good decision-making skills.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team.
- Willingness to work in all areas of Maternal/Newborn & Child Health Services.
- Good attendance record.
- Compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Act of Ontario.
- Commitment to a culture of safety and psychological health.
